    Oh my! I love it! Setz’s secret is out in the open, at least between him and Angela, and Lark may very well find out now too, thanks to Bathory.

    Wonder what Angela meant by it being the world’s fault that Setz was born special…?

    And this also raises a question about Bathory, namely, why was she left there, laying next to a corpse, after she was born? Who put her there and why didn’t anyone come for her?

    It’s possible that Bathory is a guardian of sorts to Setz. Angela’s family has ties to Navarus’s family, I’m pretty sure. It’s been mentioned that she’s nobility too, right? (If I remember correctly…)
    Maybe Bathory’s mother knew Setz’s mother? And knew what was happening? And Setz has very special abilities. So they were left there? Probably protected from the outside world.
    I knew Setz wasn’t powerless! It wouldn’t make sense. Poor Setz though. He didn’t get the chance to grow up with a happy family. I think that if Setz’s mother became pregnant a few years ago and Setz was born normally too, then he would’ve grown up with a loving mother and a father that loves his wife and son dearly. I’m sure Navarus still loves his wife and son, he just loves her so much that he’s still hurt by her passing. What is 15+ years to someone that lives for hundreds? He’s probably still coming to terms with the fact that his son is alive. He’s still stuck mourning his wife and can’t properly show love towards his son.
    Hm, but Navarus is royalty… and if he did face pressure to have an heir, it seems he didn’t give in. He remained loyal to his wife in those 500 years and it remains that way. (So, Sorry secretary that seems to be secretly in love with him.) He loves his wife still and I’m very glad about that. So yeah in that hypothetical situation I think he would have remained married to his wife for that 500 years even if she wasn’t getting pregnant.
    I wonder what the circumstances were… What if Lark and his mother were in a similar situation?
    Can’t wait for the next chapter!

      I forgot to say:
      Why is Navarus saying that Karne likes Neal? He means the platonic kind, right, right? I like Setz X Karne. She needs some toughening up though. I like how sweet she is, and I don’t hold her crying against her, I just wish she had more confidence.

        You have a very good point there about Bathory being Set’z guardian but I don’t think the both of them were placed there at the same time.Bathory was placed there in the last 100 years of the mother’s pregnancy,but I do think she was put there to guard him.Then again,I don’t think the woman from Lark’s dream is her mother,as suggested at some points.I think Bathory is a sort of reincarnation of the woman from the picture,who is most likely Angela’s sister,too.She said “That woman gave birth to me” but it doesn’t necessarily mean actual birth.It could mean she created a new body for herself,thus ‘giving birth’,and she may have also wiped out or locked away some of her memory to protect Lark and Angela,too.
        I’m interested in how Navarus thinks of Lark .There’s no doubt he knew of his actual identity but the secretary spoke slightly more casual when referring to him,saying “She met him…” and “He was most likely kind to her.”Do you think he has a certain role for him in his plans?

    Thanks for this, EGScans! Just started reading this series now. The young Lark and Setz are sooooo cuuuute!!! (^///^) There were too many “aw” moments that I feared for my health for some time. Haha!
